Ladies and gentleman … we got ’em! Newly acquired offensive tackle Matt Kalil made his way to Minneapolis Friday, making his first ‘Sota rounds as a member of the Minnesota Vikings. The mammoth Kalil – acquired by the Vikings with the 4th overall selection in last Thursday’s NFL draft first round – was widely regarded as the player the purple needed to select. And while Vikings fans a-plenty rejoiced at the selection, Kalil himself was apparently equally as stoked to be headed up north. His day went a
little like this —
Kalil touched down in MSP early Friday morning, receiving the type of rock-star treatment only suitable for a So-Cal fellow. After the standard assortment of autograph signings and baby kissings, Kalil made his way to the one place a Hollywooder can feel most comfortable in our neck of the woods – the giant mall – to bump elbows with the voice of the Vikings Paul Allen and local fantasy football guru Paul Charchian. Lastly, the big man made his way to Vikings headquarters in Eden Prairie to holler at his new head coach Leslie Frazier, team president Mark Wilf, and new teammate/fellow first round draftee Harrison Smith. And then, with his tour of
Loserville USA Vikings-land at long last complete, the oversized Kalil was ready to get back to his Hollywood lifestyle, presumably feeling good about his future as a member of the Los Angeles Minnesota Vikings.
We here at TCS are happy for Kalil; he seems like a pretty good dude. Let’s just hope his days of playing home football games in Southern California are behind him. #BuildTheStadium
