“S’more of what?” If you recognize that movie quote, we love you. If you don’t, we are collectively shaking our heads … It is from the baseball classic The Sandlot, which is celebrating its 20 year anniversary this summer.
Hard to believe really, we have fond memories of being a little kid and watching that flick. Being scared as all hell of that ginormous dog as well as stressed out about the whole Babe Ruth signed baseball situation! Damn we’re getting old. We do think most people have seen this movie though, and everyone has their favorite quote, so it begs the question …
Anyway, in celebration of 20 years, the writer and various cast members are apparently going around the country promoting it. This weekend the gang, including Chauncey Leopardi (Squintz), Patrick Renna (Ham) and writer / director David Mickey Evans, were in the Twin Cities and spent a good deal of time at Target Field. They met a bunch of Twins players – and Red Sox players – as well as manager Ron Gardenhire. They even showed the movie on the jumbotron at the ballpark a few times, including during a rain delay. which is pretty sweet / unique.
The gang didn’t stop there, they also hit up WCCO, Fox9 and Twin Cities Live, getting the most they could out of the their time here. As far as lodging goes, we believe they were staying at the Foshay, a lovely choice really.
And in an unrelated note, do you guys remember these two guys in the movie The Big Green? Basically the soccer version of The Sandlot. What an underrated flick; the Cheetos scene is absolutely hysterical! Oh, memories. What a spark of nostalgia writing this post has been …
