Former University of Minnesota wrestler Brock Lesnar is selling his Twin Cities house. READ FULL POST >>
Turns out everybody loooves to live vicariously through celebrity folk and it isn’t just us. Kids also love football, like us. So why not continue our Twin Cities celebrity real estate corner with a little semi-retired pigskin-er action?
Former Minnesota Viking cornerback – turned Seattle Seahawk over the summer, turned AARP member in August, turned potential Viking in September – Antoine Winfield put his Eden Prairie crib up for sale in early June, shortly after he was released by the Zygi Wilf and company to clear up cap space. The price of the house then was $749,900, but a few disgruntled months later and it has now dropped to $719,900.
Let’s discuss said property. Built in 1995, it’s a half acre lot sitting on a cul de sac and comes in at a lofty 5,504 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The place has vaulted ceilings and is littered with maple hardwood including the cabinetry and floors. The bathrooms and gourmet kitchen are covered in granite and feature stainless steel appliances. The “owners suite” – stupid PC now for master bedroom – is oversized with a gas fireplace (1 of 3 in the home), a walk-in closet and a full bath including a whirlpool tub and glass shower. Oh and the massive lower level amusement room is adorned with some Winflied career paraphernalia; no word if that is included in the purchase, but we will assume it isn’t.
Other features include a three-car attached garage, a spacious deck and a sprinkler system.
Property records indicate Mister Winfield bought the house back in May 2004 – shortly after the Vikings acquired him as a free agent after he spent four seasons with the Buffalo Bills – for $825,000. And for those doing the math at home, you can add this to the loss column for the guy, $106,000 worth of loss.
We must admit, for as ginormous and excessive as it is, we dig the layout, the style and the feel of the house. Contemporary yet subtle. Then again we are renters, so what could we possibly know?
In the meantime though, the question remains, will Winfield re-join the Vikings like many of the hack journalists around these parts are suggesting? Will this house then be removed from market? Who knows, we’re no Veronica Mars, but we wouldn’t mind seeing the old man suit up again in purple …
Seler: Antoine Winfield
Location: Eden Prairie, MN
Size: 5,504 sq ft, 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms
